(Bloomberg) — David Einhorn’s hedge fund had a strong August, gaining 5.7% even as equity markets sank.
The return brings Greenlight Capital’s advance for the year to 20%, according to a person familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified discussing private information.
Greenlight’s results far outstripped the S&P 500, which ended August down more than 4%. The index has slumped 17% this year.
A Greenlight spokesman declined to comment.
