(Bloomberg) — War between NATO and Russia is “unthinkable” because it would lead to a wider global conflict, Latvian Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins said in an interview with TV3.
“Russia is not afraid of NATO forces, Russia is afraid of Ukraine’s democracy,” Karins told the broadcaster on Wednesday.
Top U.S. and Russian diplomats agreed to keep talking on Tuesday after completing a first round of security discussions with the aim to resolve differences over Russia’s troop buildup near Ukraine and Moscow’s concerns about potential NATO expansion further east.
